It is with great sorrow that the UKFast Cheshire Cricket League have been informed of the passing of our Joint President Brian Davenport on Saturday 11th August after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. His passing was peaceful with his family at his side.

The League on behalf of the Executive Committee and member clubs, send heartfelt condolences to Brian's wife, family and friends.

Brian Davenport

One of Cheshire’s highly regarded cricketing characters, gentleman, player and an umpire for the last 25 years sadly passed away on the 11th August at the age of 81 following a long illness.

Brian played for Macclesfield Nalgo and later for Fison.

In 1997 he was instrumental in forming the Cheshire Cricket Alliance which stimulated the development of cricket county wide and was Chairman until 2006. Always demanding and showing honesty and integrity in all those that he dealt with.

He qualified as an umpire and was active on the field of play as well as the formation of a neutral panel of umpires which he chaired for several years. In the latter years he was President of the Alliance and more lately of the UKFast Cheshire Cricket League.

He is survived by his wife Norma and three daughters.

A true gentleman who will be sadly missed by all.
